Advantages of Using Artificial Intelligence for Dropshipping
The two main advantages of using AI in dropshipping are saving time and money. Surely, there are AI programs that can do big data analytics and chatbots, but these are not free—you will spend tens of thousands of dollars on these programs. Programs like that are not for beginner dropshippers.
For us dropshippers, the main benefit of AI is that we no longer have to do long and tedious research. We can get an instant answer to our questions. In addition, we can ask the AI to create marketing materials for us.
Just imagine if you have to do SEO yourself. You have to pay for a tool like AHREF or Semrush, which costs $99 monthly. From here, you will get the report of the keywords, and then you need to identify which keywords make sense for your business.
With AI, like ChatGPT, you can get these words by simply typing a request, which we will demonstrate later.
Here are some more things you can do with AI:
- Generate product images
- Produce or create ad copy or product description
- Create a headline or product title that is optimized for search engines
- Write short articles for your blog
- Automatically remove the image background and replace that background with something else
- Create a marketing plan that includes the target audience
- Understand what niches are trending and what products are hot
Think about it for a moment: there are so many things you can do with AI for free that you would otherwise pay for. In addition, it can take you days to write an article, but AI can do it in a matter of minutes.
Furthermore, many individuals and companies create additional functionalities for AI. Take a look at this:
The boxes highlighted above are not default programs in ChatGPT. These are programs that others built and integrated with the ChatGPT system.
So, if you want to outrank an article, you need to use the OUTRANK ARTICLE prompt and tell it what to do. If you need a keyword strategy, use the KEYWORD STRATEGY prompt.
Here is an example:
ChatGPT took only about ten seconds to do this. From here, as a dropshipper, I can whip out lots of content for the summer dress I am selling, and then target the right keywords. Later, we will have a section where I will demonstrate the best hacks you can do with AI for dropshipping.
Best AI Tools That Can Help With Dropshipping
Now, let us discuss some of the best AI tools you can use to boost your dropshipping business. You can use these tools for writing, marketing, SEO, and a whole lot more.
1. Google Bard for Research and Ad Copy
Google Bard is primarily an AI chatbot, but it has a strong focus on search. Instead of just giving you keywords, the tool processes natural language using trillions of data points, the result of which is it can write marketing material for you.
Here are some of the things that it can do:
- Respond to customer queries
- Offer personalized recommendations to existing customers
- Can serve as a virtual tutor for you to learn more about dropshipping
- Create an email marketing copy for your business; including multiple versions of the email for A/B testing.
- Create ad copy
You can also use Google Bard to plan your content. For example, Google Bard can provide you with a list of topics or article titles you can write about in your dropshipping blog.
Google is planning to work with other companies like Instacart, Spotify, and many more. Eventually, it may even work with Shopify, making it easier to use for dropshipping.
2. Flair for Product Photography
If you need product photos, Flair is something you need to check out. It offers lots of product photography templates that allow you to “stage your products.”
Here are the things it can do:
- It has a drag-and-drop function that makes it easier for you to design your product images
- Mix and match templates; choose the best design that applies to your business and marketing plan
- Provide you with blank 3D assets that you can design
- Use images of human beings to wear your shirt products; it is great for fashion photography
- Remove image backgrounds, even if the background is not plain
- Upscale images to have better resolution
If you have a print-on-demand dropshipping store, you no longer have to rely on the default product photos of the supplier. In addition, you also do not have to use the same image from any dropshipping supplier, such as AliExpress.
With Flair, you can upload your photo in the system, and either create the product photography from scratch or let the AI do it for you. From here, the only thing you do is copy the image and upload it to your website.
3. ChatGPT for SEO
ChatGPT is a multi-faceted tool that can do many things. The ChatGPT 3.5 version is free to use. If you want more functions. You need to upgrade to ChatGPT 4.
Here are the things it can do:
- Provide you with a list of keywords
- Write articles for your store
- Create a list of SEO keywords that apply to your dropshipping store
- Give you a plan for marketing, including the right audience
- Give you insights about niches and best-selling products
In addition to all these, there are apps that you can integrate with ChatGPT to help you get a more focused approach, which I will demonstrate later.
The beauty of ChatGPT is that there is no limit to the queries you can make, even if you are on the free plan. However, the free plan will not give you access to advanced data analysis and DALL-E.
DALL-E is an AI program that generates images from text you type. So, if you type “unicorn holding a mug,” the DALL-E AI will produce a 3D image of a unicorn holding a mug. Then, you can replace that mug with your product if you want.
4. Looka for Logo Design
One of the things that you have to get right if you start a dropshipping business is your logo, and Looka is one of the best AI tools to use for this. All you have to do is type your main keyword, and the AI will prompt you to do the following:
- Select an industry
- Pick a few logo samples
- Choose a color theme
- Enter your company or brand name; if you have a slogan, you have the option to include it
- Choose some symbol categories
Finally, once you do all these, the AI will generate many logos for your business. Here is a sample of what I did:
From here, you have the option to customize the logo. If you do not like the current selection, you can prompt the AI to generate more.
The main benefit of this tool is you no longer have to create a logo yourself. In addition, you do not need to pay a human being to generate a logo for you. It is expensive to hire a logo artist. To give you an idea, logo artists on a platform like Fiverr charge anywhere from $5 to $2,000.
Those who charge $5 are likely using the same AI tool such as this. So, why bother paying them if they did not make the logo from their creativity, right?
5. Speechify for Voiceovers
Speechify is a text-to-speech tool where you can paste a text, and the AI will produce a voiceover. Usually, a voiceover service costs $30 per 100 words if you get the services of a human being.
Here are some voices that Speechify offers:
- Gwyneth Paltrow
- Snoop Dogg
- Mr. Beast
Another feature of Speechify is that you can ask the AI to “clone” someone else’s voice. But then, What do you need to text-to-speech (TTS) for?
What you can do is write a script and then use that script in your video. Supposing you have a video that lasts 15 seconds for your ad, you can make your advertisement more powerful if there is a voice talking in the background.
Speechify offers a free account with several limitations. If you need more voices, you can upgrade at any time. Speechify is not the only AI that does this, but it is the most affordable. I can also attest that many of the voices here do not sound like a robot.
Best Hacks to Use AI for Dropshipping
In this section, I will show you how to use AI to help you in your dropshipping business. I will use ChatGPT in particular, as it is the most accessible free AI tool.
1. Find a Niche or Product Research
The first thing you can do with AI is to find a niche or product for your dropshipping store. Once you have ChatGPT up and running, you can prompt it to provide you with details about the best products to sell.
Here is an example:
The list you get is general, and it does not provide actual numbers. If you ask it for specific data, you will see something like this:
ChatGPT cannot tell you specific numbers, but it can narrow your search efforts and reduce the amount of work you do. If you look at the first screenshot, ChatGPT provided us with niche sub-niches.
Once you have this list, start going deeper with your analysis. The best way to do this is with Dropship.IO. It is a product research tool, competitor analysis tool, and many more.
ChatGPT said fashion and accessories like clothing. So, if I am interested in dropshipping that, I will dig deeper in the Dropship.IO product database, search for “summer dress,” and this is what I get:
Now, I have a clear view of what types of summer dresses bring the most revenue. From our screenshot, we can say that there is a huge demand for summer dresses for baby boys. But if we want to focus on women’s apparel, the second top-seller is what we need to focus on.
Apart from these stats, you can also use Dropship.IO to find suppliers for these products. All you need to do is click on the icons beside the product names, and the system will redirect you to the supplier.
2. Create Product or Ad Copy
One of the most difficult things to do in dropshipping is marketing. What you need to succeed in sales is an ad copy, or text, that entices the reader or viewer to take action. If you have no experience in writing ad copy, then ChatGPT can provide tremendous help.
In this example, I typed “Can you write an ad copy for a summer dress?” This is the answer I got:
The entire result is a bit longer than this, and it won’t fit in my screenshot. Scrolling down to the end of the result, I can say that ChatGPT did well. The ad copy that ChatGPT wrote has:
- Features and Benefits
- FOMO or “fear-of-missing-out” statements
- Call-to-action statements (CTA)
ChatGPT even suggested hashtags like #SummerFashion, #DressToImpress, and #FashionForward. The next step from here is to go to my social media and post the image and this ad copy.
If you do not like the ad copy, you can ask ChatGPT to do it again. It will create a new one. In addition, you have the option to add instructions. For example, you can say “Can you write an ad copy for a summer dress? Make it fun and engaging this time.”
I did that, and here is what I got:
You can see the difference between the two ad copies. The first one is a bit typical. The second one targets people who want to have some fun—people who want to go out and bask under the sun during summer.
It is up to you if you want to tweak or edit the ad copy. In addition, you will certainly have to do so and make sure that the words make sense and that they are relevant to your specific product.
3. Create a List of SEO Keywords
You will certainly need keywords to run a dropshipping store. You need keywords for the product title and the body, and AI is the best tool to use to search for these keywords for free.
Here is an example:
These keywords are short, if you may have observed. So, what we want to do is to ask ChatGPT for long-tail keywords. I did that, and here is what I got:
As you can see, there is a difference between the two. Now, it is up to you to sprinkle these keywords in your product title and product description. Use only the keywords that apply to your product. For example, you cannot use the keyword "Elegant halter neck sundress online” if the dress you are selling does not have a halter neck.
In addition, to this, you can also ask ChatGPT to give you ideas on what blogs to write to promote your summer dress store. Here is an example:
Why would you even do this? Advertising entails cost. On the other hand, you can publish blogs that will be in your dropshipping store forever. If these blog posts make it to the number one spot in Google Search, you will essentially get free traffic all the time without paying again and again.
The more traffic you get, the higher your conversion rate is going to be. Once you write these blog posts, make sure you incorporate the short and long keywords.
If you do not want to write, or if paying a writer is not in your budget, you can ask ChatGPT to write the article for you. Here is an example:
Do not expect the article to be of the best quality. It is a robot, after all, and it merely rewrites what it reads. Edit the article, make it longer, and make it more human. As you can see, you can use AI not only to do SEO work for you but also to write articles, giving you lots of advantages in content creation.
4. Create Product Photography
This time, we will not use ChatGPT as it does not create product photography for free. Instead, we will use PixelCut. Let us say that we want to dropship this:
We will take a screenshot of that image and upload it to PixelCut. To give you a better picture of what is going on, here is the product image I will use:
Now, here is the tool, PixelCut:
After uploading the photo, PixelCut has these images to offer:
Now, I can choose from these images and use them either in my dropshipping store product page or my ads.
There are many product photography AI programs out there, and many of them are free. If you want better images, you will have to pay for a subscription. For example, you must subscribe to PixelCut before you can generate photos that use a different background.
Can ChatGPT generate photos? Yes, it can, but you must use ChatGPT 4, not version 3.5. ChatGPT 4 is not free. Here is the pricing:
Alternatively, there are AI tools out there that can also generate photos from scratch. An example is Pebblely.
In this AI tool, you can type a description of your product, and it will generate the photo from scratch. You do not even need to upload your product photo. However, you have the option to upload, and this is what I recommend.
Here is an example:
From the same product photo, I generated a new one with a different background. I did not even remove the background manually from the original, as the AI tool did that for me automatically.
5. Create a Marketing Plan
Finally, you can use AI to create a marketing plan. Going back to ChatGPT, I asked it to create a marketing plan for our drone. Here it is:
It is a long list, and it has a total of 11 bullet points. What we do from here is to ask ChatGPT to expand the idea point by point. For example, we can ask it to explain point number two better. Here is an example:
As you can see, we are getting somewhere. Instead of doing manual research, I already have the answers I need.
To push ChatGPT’s boundaries further, I asked it to create a video plan for advertising a drone toy. Here is what I got:
The video plan is complete, including behind-the-scenes, release schedule, metrics to analyze, and interactive parts of the video. From here, the only thing left to do is to order the product and shoot the video.
If you do not want to produce videos for TikTok, you can ask ChatGPT to produce an ad copy for you. Here is an example:
As you may have observed, I was specific in my instruction. I told the AI to produce an ad copy for the parents, and that the target users are children between 8 and 24 years of age.
So, what you can do now is to tweak the ad copy, use the photography from Pebblely, and then upload the copy to your product page or social media channels. You can do this for each of your products. Just avoid reposting the same content over and over again.
